The Studio
Grey Scale Studio was founded in 2014 by photographer James Whitmore in a converted warehouse in Shoreditch, East London. What began as a one-person practice has grown into a small team of three, united by a shared conviction that restraint reveals more than excess.
We shoot exclusively in monochrome. Not as a limitation but as a discipline. Stripping away color forces us to see differently, to attend to texture, tone, and the way light falls across a surface. The result is work that feels timeless and deliberate.
Our clients include Acne Studios, The Financial Times, Aesop, and the Serpentine Gallery. We are represented by MAP for commercial work.
